These are incredibly behind, BUT here are some photos and portraits of December’s figure drawing of @alixwhitstaff hosted at @oblivionindiana and led by @benetorious. I’ve been using rented equipment the past month to explore some different processes and challenge myself a bit more. Doing this primarily with a fix lens camera was certainly differnt but I did supplement with my more conventional portrait setup at some points. Images are captured on an either a Leica Q2 with the fixed 28mm lens or a Sony a1 with 50GM or Samyang 135. #christmas #holidays #wreath #model #leicaq2

December 10, 2025 - Open Sketch Club at @oblivionindiana I don’t really do well with sketching, so I just take pictures of everyone else as they work. On a bit of a personal note, I’ve been in a bit of a slump with my creative work and questioning my skill in my own discipline, so I’ve been putting myself in more unfamiliar settings and forcing myself to using different and new tools to try and jumpstart some kind of creative eureka moment. I’ve borrowed a Leica Q2 to force myself to try and both work within its confines, and slow myself down a bit (also it’s a Leica). All these images are taken with said camera, and I’ve become quite fond of it in only the few hours I’ve had to get familiar with it. I find the wider fixed focal length makes me be a bit closer and more social, it also makes me think more broadly as to what around me adds to the story. I’m not sure it’ll cure all the aliments, but I do think it’ll help retrain a decade or so of self imposed limitations due to bad habits and lazy techniques. It’s making me be more intentional and maybe letting me know, I don’t have to take 4000 images every time I get the camera out. As with much of my creative works, it’s still a work in progress.
